Subaru Forester PCV Baffle Re-Seal During Head Gasket Repair.

Updated: Apr 21

Many times during our Cylinder Head repairs on Subaru Forester Engines we find that their is engine oil residue leaking from behind the engine coming from the Rear Main Seal & PCV Baffle Plate. At Sorenson Automotive, Inc | IND. Subaru Mechanics MN we always take the extra time to address this problem. When we perform our Cylinder Head Gasket Repairs we always remove the engine from the vehicle so it makes no sense not to spend the extra hour in making sure this area is sealed. It would really be a huge inconvenience if it were to leak after all this work! Using the correct installation tool we replace the

Rear Main Seal with a Genuine O.E.M Seal, remove the PCV Baffle Plate, clean the mating surfaces and apply Permatex Ultra Black to finish the repair. It is extremely important during this step not to use excessive amounts of Silicone and to wait the appropriate amount of time for it to cure before installing oil or putting the vehicle back into service as "wet" silicone can enter the engine and damage internal components. We would be more than happy to help you , even if it is just for advice If you ever are having Rear Main Seal problems, or if you need the Cylinder Head Gaskets replaced in your Subaru Forester or other model.
